Making a Compass (Math P2)

P2 students learned how to describe the relative positions of objects using the cardinal directions (north, south, east, west) in math class, and they also learned about one of China's Four Great Inventions — the compass.

After the teacher introduced various ancient Chinese inventions for determining direction, the students made their own compasses using materials such as magnets, bowls, water, expanding foam, and sticky notes.

Through group discussions, testing, and sharing, they not only successfully created compasses that could determine direction but also shared their methods for improvement.
