English x STEAM: Air Cannon Challenge

Transdisciplinary Learning
31 Oct 2024
HKUGA Primary School

On 31st October 2024, during lunch recess in the School Hall, the P6 students participated in an exciting cross-curriculum activity that combined English and STEAM through the Air Cannon Challenge. This innovative project allowed students to apply their knowledge in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics to design and create their own air cannons. After several try-outs and testing, they successfully developed an engaging air cannon game, wrote detailed instructions, and set up game booths for the entire school to enjoy.

Before presenting their game to the whole school, the P6 students conducted a try-out session with the P3 students. This not only helped them refine their designs but also provided valuable feedback to ensure the game was fun and accessible for all ages.

The activity was a great success, with everyone having fun playing the games and receiving candies, stickers, or even prizes prepared by the P6 students. Adding to the excitement, the event took place on Halloween and Casual Wear Day, making it a festive and fun-filled occasion for all. The atmosphere was electric, filled with laughter, cheers, and a sense of camaraderie among students. This hands-on experience not only reinforced their STEAM skills but also enhanced their English writing and communication abilities.
