When our hearts fill with gratitude, we will learn to appreciate, value and be thankful. As our footsteps quicken and our lives become overtaken by the media and technology, we may easily overlook our beautiful environment, people we love and the merits of good things happening around us. It is our hope that through class building activities, opportunities to boost their self-confidence, environmental education and experiential days, our students will learn to treasure their own qualities, appreciate others' actions and respect the environment. Through the above experiences, their feeling of gratitude towards others would be aroused and from gratitude, they would learn to cherish. We strongly believe that children who know how to appreciate, treasure and be grateful can learn attentively, cooperate well with others and enjoy all that life has to offer. Even though they will encounter obstacles and tests in the future, they can still face them positively and optimistically.
Treating others with love is to care, to share and to give selflessly. Love is a feeling and a sentiment. What is even more important is how our actions are driven by love. As a continuation of our theme from last year, "Love Others as Yourself", we would encourage our students to carry on with their acts of love and to show their love to their families and those around them in the community. With the aim of nurturing their care for the society and allowing them to learn how to serve others, our students will have the opportunity to participate in community service from P.2 onwards.
However, love should not be confined by regions and districts. As citizens of the world, we would like to lead our students to widen their horizon and to learn about the lives of people living in different parts of the world through various activities such as our Open Day. They would then come to realise their own prosperity and good fortune which would encourage them to become more compassionate and giving and to instill in them the willingness to sacrifice themselves for others.
It is with the goals of sharing our educational philosophies and experience in mind that we would like to hold an Education Conference this school year. As we exchange ideas and learn from our local and overseas counterparts, we would all gain and be able to enhance the quality of education.
The 10th Anniversary of HKUGA Primary School is a time for thanksgiving and celebration. We hope that every one of our students, staff members and parents would have hearts filled with gratitude and actions filled with love. Let our happiness and love spread to those around us so that they could also feel our warmth and care thus making our 10th Anniversary even more meaningful and memorable.
